The Apna group took its very first steps way back in the year 1979, as a small trading unit dealing in laboratory consumables. The erstwhile Apna Scientific Supplies, was the brainchild of Late C. Desappan. A true visionary who in a sense could 'predict' the future purely based on the simplicity of his convictions - to create a business that provides solutions and touches lives. With its roots as a supplier to industrial labs in and around Chennai, the group made its foray into instruments, equipment, glassware and chemicals.

Soon, for the Apna Group, 'business-as-usual' meant the introduction of another division to meet the demand for laboratory furniture. And, less than a decade since day one, Apna Industries, the manufacturing unit shifted into gear, and in its wake, turned the spotlight on the Quality aspects of Lab instruments.

Apna's homegrown expertise spawned its venture into the Cashew Processing industry. The Cashew Processing project, in ongoing consultation with various governments, is slated to fuel socio-economic development of the more challenged sections of society.

The next ten years witnessed the arrival of the Apna Group in the arena of interior design.

The turn of the 20th century heralded Apna's tryst with cutting edge technology. Enter Apna Technologies and Solutions (ATS), provider of world class solutions in Test & Measurement, Machine Condition Monitoring, Power Quality Analysis, and Virtual Instrumentation. Apna, has in its own unique fashion created a powerful tool - a product of infrastructure modules and ultra modern software technology.

The Apna House of International Trade was started recently with the sole aim of exporting rural talent abundant in South Asia to Europe, the US and Africa. The revenues generated go directly into the enhancement of the home areas - to improve the quality of life, while keeping rural artisans fruitfully connected with their western patrons.
